Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to important questions about GDPR-compliant analytics

GDPR and Legal Compliance

Yes. We avoid third-party cookies and do not build user profiles or track individuals across websites. We collect only limited technical data (browser type, device type, country) without direct identifiers like names or full IP addresses. Under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, website owners can use privacy-friendly analytics under their legitimate interest.

Cookies and Privacy

No. We do not use cookies. Our tracker uses short-lived browser session storage to detect bounces (it resets when the tab closes). We do not use persistent identifiers or track individuals across sessions or websites.

Google Analytics Alternatives

We don't use cookies, don't build user profiles, and never sell or share data with third parties. In most cases, you can use GDPRmetrics without a consent banner.

User Rights

Users retain all GDPR rights. However, because our analytics data does not contain identifiers that link events to specific individuals, some rights (such as access, rectification, and portability) may be limited in practice — we simply cannot locate 'their' records in anonymized aggregate data. We can always delete analytics data at the website level upon the site owner's request.

Implementation and Installation

Simply add one line of code to your site header. No build tools or configuration required.

Technical Aspects

No, our script is ~3KB (gzip) and loads asynchronously. It doesn't affect site performance.
